This project is to be constructed using a conventional two storey timber frame, with simple stud walls and joisted floors. The architectural desire to have first floor rooms taking up the full volume of the house including the pitched roof volume, without any internal visible structure meant that we needed to resort to some light steel framing in one of the blocks. Clerestorey windows have
been inserted in the blocks, and the external cladding uses a combination of timber boarding and flint with brick surrounds.

The final design provides a very modest and cost effective solution.
