Environmental Policy

Barton Engineers has always been committed to the protection of the environment and to sustainability in both our design work and in our own operations.

We aim to promote these policies in all of our activities and projects, and among all of those we work and live with.

As a company we aim to;

• Contribute to building a sustainable society, present and future.

• Apply professional and responsible judgement and take a leadership role.

• Do more than just comply with legislation and codes.

• Use resources efficiently and effectively.

• Seek multiple views to solve sustainability challenges.

• Manage risk to minimise adverse impact to people or the environment.

These are the six principles set out by the Engineering Council, May 2009

Within our company we aim to;

• Research and develop our knowledge of design using sustainable principles.

• Educate all our staff in these principles.

• Monitor our performance against targets, and continually improve our knowledge and performance.

• We are fully conversant with the principles embodied by BREEAM, Eco Homes, and Environmental Profiling, and we always incorporate these methodologies when selecting structural forms and materials.
