Barton Engineers are always interested in hearing from good engineers, at all levels of experience, who are interested in working for a progressive and award winning company. Our work load is usually extremely varied both in scale and type of project. The office environment is stimulating and fun, and we aim to offer as much responsibility and experience as employees wish to take on. Currently we have a good workload, considering the present industry conditions, and we are particularly interested in hearing from people for the following positions

Project Engineers:

We are currently looking for project engineers with a minimum of three years experience working in a design office on structural work, who must be capable of running projects, scheme design, attending meetings and site monitoring visits, and dealing with architects and contractors on a day to day basis. You would work directly for a Director or Project Director, and be able to organise and control a small team of Design Engineers. You will either be C. Eng. or coming up to take the Part Three exam of The Institution of Structural Engineers. Most importantly you must be able to demonstrate creativity, problem solving ability, and a passion for the built environment.

Graduate Engineers: (Apply after 1st March 2010)

We will be interested in hearing from undergraduates who will be completing their studies in the Summer of 2010, and who are seeking employment from August or September 2010. However we will not be considering applications until after 1st March 2010. We offer excellent experience and training towards Part Three Qualifications for both I Struct E and ICE.

We would expect you to be a student member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, and to proceed towards sitting the Part 3 examination as soon as possible. Obviously, we would attempt to provide you with as much experience and training as is necessary for success in this objective. In addition, we would also provide you with equal assistance in gaining full membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
In addition to these qualifications, we also have a positive approach CPD, and would request your attendance at various courses and seminars that we feel would benefit both yourself and the practice.

Intern or Student Placements:

We have a policy of always employing undergraduate students on short term contracts. All have enjoyed the experience and in many cases have completed significant elements of project work that stand them in good stead for their future careers. If you wish to apply for work experience commencing after 1st June 2010 please apply after 1st April 2010; we will not be considering any applications made before that date.
