Doctor's Surgery, Southend-on-Sea, Essex

A conventional tile covered timber roof is supported over an atrium space in this health centre by a series of timber struts. Each strut is formed by machining laminated ash components. As the struts are always in compression due to the weight of the roof above, the end connections are simple dry socket joints in cherry wood blocks.
